Privacy Policy
Last updated · 4 October 2026
This policy covers the HT University mobile app and the harrytaylorgolf.com online store, both operated by HTG Management Inc. DBA Harry Taylor Golf (“HTG”, “we”, “us”).
HT University is used by junior golfers, including children under 13. Because of that, the rules we follow are stricter than they would be for an ordinary app, and the section on children and parental consent below is the most important part of this policy.
The short version
We collect the account details you give us, the practice and lesson activity a golfer records in the app, precise location when the GPS rangefinder is in use, and any swing photos or videos uploaded for coaching. We use it to run the app and your membership.
We do not sell personal information, we do not share it for advertising, and we do not run behavioural advertising of any kind in HT University.
A junior account cannot be created or used without a parent or guardian setting it up and consenting first, and that parent or guardian can review or delete everything we hold about their child at any time by emailing support@harrytaylorgolf.com.
Children, parents and consent
HT University is designed for junior golfers, and many of them are under 13. In the United States, collecting personal information from a child under 13 online requires the verifiable consent of a parent or guardian under the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We treat that as a floor, not a ceiling.
How consent works
A junior account is created by a parent or guardian, not by the child. Before the account becomes usable, the adult setting it up must identify themselves, confirm they are the child’s parent or legal guardian, and consent to the collection described in this policy. We do not activate a junior account without that step.
What a parent is consenting to
The child’s first name and, where it is given for club fitting, their age and height; the lessons and drills they complete; practice and round activity they record; precise location while the GPS rangefinder is open; and any swing photo or video they or their parent uploads for coaching.
Only what the feature needs
We do not require a child to hand over more personal information than a feature actually needs in order to take part. We ask for a child’s height and age because club fitting depends on them, not to build a profile.
We do not sell or share the personal information of any user we know to be under 16, for any purpose, ever. We do not serve behavioural or targeted advertising to any HT University user, and we do not allow third parties to collect personal information from a junior account for their own purposes.
If you believe a child has given us personal information without a parent or guardian’s consent, email support@harrytaylorgolf.com and we will delete it and close the account.
Parent and guardian rights
If you are the parent or guardian of a junior account holder, you may at any time:
- see everything we hold about your child;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- have it deleted, including uploaded photos and video;
- withdraw your consent, which closes the account and deletes the data; and
- refuse to allow any further collection, without losing access to the parts of the app that do not depend on it.
Email support@harrytaylorgolf.com from the address on the account, or call (323) 484-4653. We may need to confirm you are the account’s parent or guardian before we act, so that one parent cannot be impersonated by someone else. Withdrawing consent or deleting the data does not cancel a subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play — see Cancelling your subscription.
What we collect
Account information
The name and email address used to create the account, a password (stored only as a hash, never in readable form), and the relationship between a parent account and the junior accounts under it.
Golfer profile
A junior’s first name, and their age and height where given, so that club recommendations and lesson progression fit the player.
Activity in the app
Lessons started and completed, drills, practice sessions, scores and rounds recorded, and progress through the HT University curriculum.
Location
Precise device location while the GPS rangefinder is in use. See Location.
Photos and video
Swing photos and videos uploaded for coaching or swing review. See Photos and video.
Subscription and purchase records
Whether a membership is active, which plan, when it renews, and the store it was bought from. In-app subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google — we never receive your card number, only a confirmation that the subscription is valid. Purchases made on our website are processed by our payment provider, who likewise does not pass us full card numbers.
Device and diagnostic data
Device model, operating system version, app version, language, crash reports and anonymous usage counts. See Analytics and crash reporting.
Support correspondence
Emails, calls and messages you send us, kept so we can follow up and so we have a record of what was agreed.
Store orders
On harrytaylorgolf.com: contact and shipping details, order history, and the marketing preferences you have chosen.
Location
HT University includes a GPS rangefinder that measures distances on a golf course. That needs your device’s precise location.
We ask for location permission the first time you open the rangefinder, not when you install the app, and you can refuse. If you refuse, the rest of the app keeps working and only the rangefinder is unavailable.
We use location only while the rangefinder is open. We do not track location in the background, we do not build a history of where a golfer has been, and we do not use location for advertising or sell it to anyone. You can withdraw the permission at any time in your device settings.
Under COPPA, a child’s precise location is personal information. It is covered by the parental consent described above, and a parent can refuse it while keeping the rest of the app.
Photos and video
A golfer or their parent can upload swing photos and video for coaching and swing review. These are often videos of a child, so we treat them as sensitive.
- They are visible to the account holder, to the parent or guardian on a junior account, and to an HTG coach reviewing the swing.
- They are not public, not listed anywhere, and not shown to other members.
- We do not use them in marketing, on social media, or anywhere else without asking you first and getting your agreement in writing. For a junior, that agreement has to come from the parent or guardian.
- We do not use them to train machine-learning or AI models.
- You can delete any upload from the app, and a parent can have all of a child’s uploads deleted by emailing us.
How we use it
- To run your account and your HT University membership.
- To deliver lessons and drills and track progress through them.
- To recommend club sizes that fit the golfer.
- To provide the GPS rangefinder while it is open.
- To let a coach review a swing that was submitted for review.
- To answer support requests and handle billing questions.
- To process, ship and support store orders.
- To find and fix crashes and bugs, and to understand which features get used.
- To send you emails or texts you have opted into, which you can stop at any time.
- To prevent fraud and abuse, and to meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
Analytics and crash reporting
We use third-party crash-reporting and product-analytics tools to find out when the app breaks and which features people use. They act as our processors under contract: they may use the data to provide the service to us, and for nothing else of their own.
These tools are configured so that they do not receive a junior account holder’s name, email address, precise location, or uploaded photos or video. What they do receive is device model, operating system and app version, crash diagnostics, and counts of which screens and features were used.
We do not use advertising SDKs, advertising identifiers, or cross-app tracking in HT University, and we do not allow third-party advertising networks into the app.
What we never do
- We do not sell personal information.
- We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.
- We do not sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16, for any purpose.
- We do not serve targeted or behavioural advertising in HT University.
- We do not track you across other companies’ apps and websites.
- We do not use swing photos or video for marketing or model training.
- We do not condition a child’s participation on giving us more information than a feature needs.
How long we keep it
Account, profile and activity data for as long as the account is open. When an account is deleted we remove it, along with uploaded photos and video, within 30 days, except where we must keep something longer by law.
Order and payment records are kept for as long as tax and accounting rules require, normally seven years. Support correspondence is kept for up to three years. Crash and analytics data is kept in aggregate and is not tied back to a named person.
Location is used while the rangefinder is open and is not retained as a location history.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Passwords are stored only as hashes. Access to member data inside HTG is limited to the people who need it to do their jobs. Uploaded photos and video are stored in private storage that is not publicly listable.
No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. If a breach affects your personal information we will notify you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to show you what we hold, correct it, delete it, or send you a copy, and you can unsubscribe from marketing at any time. Email support@harrytaylorgolf.com. We will not treat you worse for exercising a right.
You can delete your HT University account from inside the app. Deleting the account does not cancel a subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play — see Cancelling your subscription.
California
Under the CCPA as amended by the CPRA you have the right to know what we collect and why, to have it deleted, to correct it, to limit our use of sensitive personal information, and to opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of — but the right exists and we will honour it if that ever changes. You may use an authorised agent. HTG is a California company and this policy is written to California law.
Other US states and outside the US
Residents of other states with privacy laws, and users in the UK and EU, have equivalent rights of access, correction, deletion, portability and objection, and may complain to their data protection authority. Email us and we will handle your request the same way.
Where your data is held
HTG is based in the United States and our service providers are mostly US-based, so your information is processed in the United States. If you use HT University from outside the US, you are sending your information to the US, where privacy law differs from your own. Where a transfer out of the UK or EU needs a legal mechanism, we rely on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will change the date at the top. If a change materially affects what we collect from a child or how we use it, we will not apply it to information already collected until we have the parent or guardian’s consent again — we will contact them rather than relying on a quiet update to this page.
